Computers and Tablets

We have several desktop computers and tablets for our customers to use. If you want to search material from the library database, there are two computers reserved solely for browsing the KIRKES library catalogue in the hallway.

Desktop computers

Our customer computers are located in an alcove in the hallway, in the Newspaper Reading Room and in a small study along the hallway. Most of the computers can be reserved for an hour at a time, but one of the standing workstations in the hallway is reserved for those who only need to stop by (max 15 min). All our desktop computers are connected to the internet and have Microsoft Office 2016 software suite installed. You can print in colour (default) or in greyscale from all the computers.

Our tablet computers are iPads. You can borrow a tablet with your library card. Tablets use library’s wireless network (Kirjasto505) and you are free to use our Wi-Fi with your own devices as well. Cardholder, or in case of a minor, the cardholder’s guardian, is liable for any damages that may occur. Library also lends out earphones, if you want to listen to music, view videos or television shows or play video games.

Afterwards you can access the system using either the user name you have created or the library card number and PIN code.
