We are a part of the KIRKES Library Network with Tuusula, Järvenpää and Kerava libraries. Your library card is valid in all the KIRKES libraries. With your library card number you can make reservations on library material or renew the items you have borrowed.
Our collection includes books, e-books, magazines, periodicals, language courses, sheet music, CDs, audio books, DVDs, video games and board games available either for loan or for use in the library building.
We offer a possibility to seek information on different electronic databases. You can also reserve material from other KIRKES libraries or request interlibrary loans either from RATAMO Network or other libraries.
You can borrow material from the main library or the mobile library. Or you can reserve items:
- From Mäntsälä, Järvenpää and Tuusula libraries for free or from Kerava library for 1,50 €
- From Ratamo Library Network (Riihimäki, Hyvinkää, Hausjärvi, Loppi, Nurmijärvi) for 2,00 €
- From other libraries for 7,00 €

Story hour for kids is held on Tuesdays from 10 am to 10:45 am. Stories are read in Finnish.

Newspapers and periodicals
Digital Newspaper Service ePress epress.fi and digital magazine service emagz.fi offer digitized versions of Finnish newspapers and magazines. Digital newspapers and magazines can be read on our customer computers or on your own device if it is connected to the library wi-fi Kirjasto505.
In the library’s newspaper room we have newspapers and periodicals from Finland and other countries. There are magazines available in English, Swedish, German, Spanish and French. Apart from the latest issue all periodicals are available for loan. Loan period is 2 weeks.
For most newspapers, we keep the current month and the previous month’s issues available. Helsingin Sanomat, Etelä-Suomen sanomat and Kauppalehti are available for the current month and two previous months. The local newspaper (Mäntsälä, Mäntsälän uutiset) is available as bound volumes from 1972 to 2014.
You can search and request magazines via our Online Library Catalogue kirkes.finna.fi.
We have eBooks, electronic materials and other online resources available for our customers. At the library we have devices you can use to get acquainted with our services and materials. The library staff provides help and guidance, if needed.
From Ellibs Online Library you can check out books and audio books in Finnish or in Swedish. Use your library card number and PIN code to log in.
Computers and tablets
We have several desktop computers and tablets for our customers to use. If you want to search material from the library database, in the hallway there are two computers reserved solely for browsing the KIRKES library catalogue.
Our customer computers are located in an alcove in the hallway, in the newspaper room and in a small study along the hallway. The computers can be reserved for an hour at a time. All our desktop computers are connected to the Internet and have the Microsoft Office 2016 software suite installed. You can print in color (default) or in greyscale from all the computers.
Our tablet computers are iPads. You can borrow a tablet with your library card. Tablets use library’s wireless network (Kirjasto505) and you are free to use our Wi-Fi with your own devices as well. Cardholder, or in case of a minor, the cardholder’s guardian, is liable for any damages that may occur. Library also lends out earphones, if you want to listen to music, view videos or television shows or play video games.
Reserving a computer
Library’s desktop computers can be reserved through our -system with a library card number and PIN code. If you don’t have a PIN code, the library staff will give you one. The same code is used for reservations and renewals in our online catalogue. eBooking -system allows you to edit your personal user details, excluding the library card number and birth date. Afterwards you can access the system using either the user name you have created or the library card number and PIN code.
